Thearticle “Homeless veterans in Los Angeles struggle for access toland donated to them” was published online on 3rdMarch 2015 at the FSRN’s website. Just like the other articles, itaddresses the issue of veterans’ homelessness in LA and theapparent misuse of a property meant to provide housing to them. TheVA is solely placed on the spotlight for failing to address veterans’housing needs but instead making money out of their predicament. Thearticle thus delivers what the headlines promises- presents thepursuit of provision of homes to veterans as a struggle that has seenactivists hold protests to demand their rights. The article is wellwritten and uses accusing approach.

Articleanalysis

Thearticle “LA vets demand housing at giant VA campus” by Gupta andHellerman (2011) working for CNN shows how the issue of homelessveterans has dragged on since 2011. The fact that the veterans havebeen fighting to have west LA veterans campus put to its intended usecaptures the government’s commitment to address the issue. Again, other than homelessness, veterans are depicted as being vulnerablefrom a health perspective with little being done to assist them. Thearticle therefore justifies the reason why veterans are demandinghousing from VA to be accommodated in the west LA veterans campus. The ills of capitalization where profits are given precedence oversocial good are evident with the VA choosing to lease out premisesmeant for veterans instead of providing housing to veterans.
