Thebuildinghadeight floorswith two basementsub-levels. Eachlevel andfloorwasassignedaspecificfunction,from theevidenceintakein thesub-levelto thetraininglabs andemergencypoweron theeighth floor.Eachentrypointon eachflooris calleda bio – vestibuleandislocatedat thesamepointthroughout thestructure.

Thewholebuildingis safeguarded by a securitysystem.Thelab has facednumeroushurdlesandchallengessuchas its urbansetting,its sizeandscopeandthestate’sWick Law whichmadeittakeseveralyearsforitto becompleted.Furthermore,theflexiblelayoutandequipmenthas provedeffectiveandallowedformodificationthat occurredduring constructionall thewayto completion.Theforensicbiologylab hadinitiallybeenlocateduntil spring2007 in a 50 yearsoldstructurewith dated lab facilities.
