DeviantSexual Fantasies among Adolescents and Children
Accordingto studies, most individuals who abuse children sexually hadfantasies regarding children prior acting on such thoughts (Worling,2012). In addition, the majorities of persons with sexual fantasiesfail to seek guidance or help to assist them with the problem.Worling (2012) has indicated that sexual fantasies with children aredangerous and victims should pay attention. The current paper seeksto investigate deviant sexual fantasies among adolescents andchildren. The investigation is founded on a number of aspects asindicated herein.
WhyAdults Fantasies to Have Sex with Children
Researchhas evidenced a number of reasons why adult who fantasies to have sexwith children. To start with, individuals who do not take part insexually abnormal behavior think about sexual fantasies involvingunusual sexual imagery. Imagery processes permit persons to generatea detailed and psychologically anchored mental representation. Thisoriginates from daydreaming and entails an erotica that generates andincreases sexual stimulation (Barkin, 2013). Some Sexual fantasy isalso linked with the kind of materials people hear, experiences, orsees (Gee, Devilly & Ward, 2004). It is dependent on personality, cognitive style, past experiences, as well as a person’s degree ofcreativity. Sexual fantasies among males are portrayed as beingimpersonal, power-oriented, and active. The group has evidenced highlevel of masochistic fantasy.
Sexualfantasies towards children are also linked with a continuing sexdrive aimed at the juvenile. The sexual abusers, especially those whoare sixteen years of age and above, are believed to suffer frompedophilia disorder. The Internet together with other sexualizedpictures of children result in fantasies. When adults come acrosssuch representations, they tend to see children as prospective sexualpartners (Gee, Devilly & Ward, 2004). Some adults obtain the ideathat all people are doing it. They also consider children to have thewillingness to participate in sexual behaviors while others think itis right to have sexual fantasies with young (Worling, 2012).
Accordingto research, adults can solve the problem of sexual fantasies towardschildren by seeking advice from a sex therapist (Worling, 2012). Suchfantasies are controlled using sex-based medications and therapies.Treatment has proved to be highly efficient.
Whydo Adolescents have Sex with Children?
Variousreasons exist why teenagers have sex with children. The first reasonis curiosity. Young adults are curious when it comes to sex mattersand they are capable of convincing children to have sex with them. Most of them want to explore and experiment what they have neverexperienced before. Other adolescents are intellectually disabled, are psychotic, or they have a mental disorder. These drive them tohave sexual contact with children.
Studieshave also evidenced the presence of antisocial personality disorderas a cause of sexual contacts with children. It means that someadolescents are anti-society as they consider societal decrees as notapplicable to them (Worling, 2012). As a result, they end up breakingmost of societal regulations. Due to their anti-social attitude, theyare short of feelings towards other persons. They believe thateverybody including children should be used.
Lastly, some teenagers are not aware that having sex with children is wrongor harmful. They take it as a normal thing that happens in everydaylife. Trying to understand why teenagers sexually harm the youngstersis complex. Some do it since they have also been victimized before.Others have gone through physical and emotional abuse includingviolence both in the community and at home.
Whoare these Children?
Themajority of children involved in sexual behaviors are aged thirteenyears and below. Sexual behaviors towards children encompassundressing, touching genitals, child pornography or performing sex(Worling, 2012). Most of the abused children are relatives includingclose family members, neighbors, and friends.
Dothe Children Perpetrators as Adults?
Somechildren fall victims of sexual offensive behaviors while otherspretend to be adults. Those who perpetrate as adults are generallythe ones who get involved in sexual activities at an early age. Mostof them are exposed or expose themselves to watching pornographicmaterials, which give them the urge to experiment in real life. Withthe increased development of technology, children use their computersor Smartphones to download such materials which they watch alone orwith their fellows (Gee, Devilly & Ward, 2004). Some children getinfluenced by their peers to engage in sexual activities, withoutknowing what they are getting themselves into.
DoAdults use Children in Child Pornography?
Adultswho have sexual fantasies towards children tend to use them in childpornography. Internet child pornography has risen in the currenttime, especially due to difficulties in investigating the same. Childpornography pictures can be produced and downloaded in differentplaces making it hard to deal with. With this awareness in additionto the growth of technology including web cams and digital cameras, children have turned out to be sexual objects. Some of thepornographers do it to satisfy their sexual urges towards children, while others do it for commercial purposes. Research has evidencedthat the development of multimedia messaging (MMR) mobile phonessurreptitious children photography has become a rising issue (Gee,Devilly & Ward, 2004).
SociologicalTheory Relating to the Issue
Sociallearning theory by Albert Bandura is a good example to the case athand. According to the theory people learn behavior from thesurrounding through observational learning (McLeod, 2011).Individuals process information at a fast rate using cognitiveprocesses. Children usually learn from the persons surrounding them(models) through observation. They tend to imitate the observedbehaviors either bad or good. To the, anything done by adults is notbad. A society has numerous people who act as models and influenceschildren in different ways. They include parents, TV characters, friends especially their peers, as well as teachers (Barkin, 2013).Some of the behaviors imitated encompass feminine, anti-social, andmasculine among others. With reference to this paper, children mostlyengage in sexual behaviors probably because they have come acrosssuch cases in the media, Internet, or in real life. They tend to copywhat their models are doing since such behaviors are instilled inthem (McLeod, 2011). Having cases all over the media regardingdeviant sexual fantasies and sexual abuse of children, some peoplewhat to experiment what they hear or see.
Thecurrent paper has focused on deviant sexual fantasies amongadolescents and children. It has become rampant in the current daysdue to various reasons. Sexual drive, mental illness, and antisocialbehaviors are some of the reasons. Some adolescents engage in sexualbehaviors with youngsters simply due to curiosity while others wantto experiment. Children who fall victims of sexual behaviors arefamily, friends or neighbours. They have also become victims of childpornography. In a nutshell, these deviant behaviors can only be solveif those suffering reliaze they have a problem and seek attention ofa therapist.
