Mainly, theresources are allocated to companies’ departments of informationtechnology, human resource management, and business strategy. Inaddition, knowledge management efforts normally focus on certainorganizational objectives, for example, competitive advantage,improved performance, innovation, integration, continuousimprovement, and sharing of all lessons learned within and outsidethe organization. The efforts of knowledge management overlap theorganizational learning, and it may be differentiated from thatbecause management of knowledge can be used as a strategic asset aswell as a focus on encouraging sharing of knowledge.
Inother words, KM enables and enhances organizational learning. Anorganization must know how to get information from its employees’knowledge, collect it in a certain layout, and then locate it in aneasily accessible place within the company (Hershey, 7/21/2011).Different companies usually do this so as to ensure that knowledge isutilized and credible to accomplish the organization goals. The roleof Knowledge Management in companies is to encourage sharing ofinformation freely and interaction of people within the companies. Inaddition, the core principle of Knowledge Management is knowledgeitself. Communication and information technologies usually helppeople to keep knowledge in a well-organized manner, but the abilityof people to interact and interpret knowledge is the main answer toeffective KM. The company began as a study project by Sergey Brinand Larry Page, who were Stanford Ph.D. graduates. Their studyproject, titled “BackRub”, and they implemented a program thatlinked WebPages and then analyzed all the producedresults. In1997, the two graduates registered their program as “google.com”and the company became officially privately owned by 1998. Thekey to remaining successive is to adapt the quickly evolvingenvironment thus, Google keeps on producing new and well-improvedcreations that enable it to remain ahead of their contenders(Kenneth, 2012).Additionally, Google hires the greatest and best individuals from theglobe who have a wide experience in different fields and then itprovides a very conducive environment that enables them to sharetheir information freely.
