Hofstedecultural dimensions sort to describe an overview of culturaldiversity and cross-cultural relationships. Hofstede work has notescaped criticism but also it has served great insight to scholarsand practitioners on matters concerning cultural diversity (Hartmann,2012). For businesses that sort to enter the global arena, Hofstedeprovided them with a basis on which to tackle the cross-culturalchallenge (Dato-on, 2015). His work has provided an accurate view oncultural differences since it provide the framework in which to viewsociety in relation to the cultural aspect. He viewed culture as aprogramming of mind that continues develop until it sets a group ofpeople apart from others. In this view culture is not an event to bequickly learned but it takes slow progress of growing in society.This process involves learning about values, understanding symbolsi.e. myths, dress, jargons, etc. participating in rituals orcollective responsibilities and being a role model to others insociety (Edmundson, 2005).

Asseen this factors reflect on cultures in all countries. In addition,Hofstede conducted a rigorous research with systematic datacollection on many individuals that enabled him to acquire his fourbipolar dimension of culture (Dato-on, 2015). This dimensions showedthe interrelationships of cultures and thus termed cross-cultural.His cultural characterization used for each country were based onthese four factors i.e. Power Distance Individualism/CollectivismUncertainty Avoidance Masculinity/Feminity (Hartmann, 2012). Aresearch on this dimensions outlined Hofstede prediction that culturewill change over time, and indeed it has.

Inconclusion, culture is a very diverse area of study that today aslong ago cuts across all spheres of life. With Hofstede work, it isclear and accurate on the cultural differences. Through this work, astudy of the different cultures of different countries can beconducted. Although it is faced with major criticism, it remains oneof the best and valuable works on culture (Hartmann, 2012).
