This is as a result of increased connections betweencountries, hence improved movement of goods and people from one placeto the other.

The highway systems have become an integral elementfor any country’s development. In the united states, the nationalhighway systems take care of the roads and highways connecting thestates. The National Highway Systems (NHS), which is responsible fora part of transport infrastructure construction in America, must beable to provide modern, reliable and safe modes of transportation. Itprioritizes the most important routes (Sunindijo &amp Zou, 2013).

Inrecent times, the technological advancement has had tremendous impactin the construction industry is more durable and conducive roads andhighways are being constructed. The NHS works hand in hand withtechnologies such as the Intelligent Transportation system to makesure there is free flow of traffic without further expansion., theNHS’s goal is to ensure that the market competition is notindividual unity should prevail to ensure good contacts and thusdevelopment in the continent. The Interstate Highways are afundamental part of the road network around the continent. It beganat the initiative of the Federal-Aid-Highway in 1956.The Stategovernment also plays a major role in the funding of these highwaysystems, which is responsible for the construction, maintenance andrepair of this transportation system (Thube, 2013).

Inconclusion, road construction has been and remains an essentialelement in the development of nations. Technology advancement hasbrought along constructions of improved road systems which has been apositive gain for countries especially the developing nations. Thishas in turn led to the demand and application of constructionmanagement knowledge as constructions continue to be made globally.
