Toassessmy leader,I usedtheLMX theoryquestionnaire.I gradedmy leaderusingtheseven areasoutlinedin thequestionnaire.Out of thesequestions, thetotalscoresaccumulatedby my leaderamounted to 28. Thescoreprovedthatthequalityof my leaderis high.I wasnot surprisedbecauseof thisscorebecause, after readingtheLMX theory,I wascertainthatmy leaderscoredmorethan averageon all theattributes.Forexample,I highlybelievethatmy leaderwould bailme out of my problemsby usinghis powerandresources.Healsounderstandsmy potential in anyactivityhegivesme to undertake.Whenever I completea task, heexpresseshis satisfaction.Heunderstandsmy needswhenever am working, andI trustthedecisionshemakes.I would defendhis actionsanddecisionsevenin thisabsentia since I knowhim as a rationaldecisionmaker.

Inmy group,I observevariousadvantagesthat accompanythein-group members.Firsttheyhaveinfluencewhenitcomesto decisionmakingbecausetheyalreadyhavethetrustof theleader.Secondly, theycan getmoreexposurebecausetheyvolunteerto performrolesotherthan whatappearsin their mandate. Our leaderis moreconcerned with their welfare, andI observea lotof confidencein them whenever theydotheir work.Theout-group membersare onlyawareof their work, andtheyhaveverylittleinformationregardingotheractivitiesin thegroup(Northouse, 2013). I alsoobservethattheir relationshipwith our leaderis stranger-like. I feelthatthesepeoplecontributeto their beingleftout in manyissuesof thegroup.

Theleaderopts to usethepeoplehecan depend on whenhewantsan activityto getcompleted.Thedependablepeopleare thein-group membersbecauseheinteractswith them regularly(Northouse, 2013).ThomasSmith- Nelson Mandela

NelsonMandela, theSouth African icon,is indeedtheleaderof theweek.Hestandstallagainst theotherleadersdue to thestruggleheunderwentto freehis countryfrom theshacklesof apartheid. Hechoseto bailout his countryfrom racialdiscriminationby theuseof his influence, resourcesandundergoinga lotof sufferingin jail(Clinebell, 2014).Theleaderacceptedhis infallibilityanddidnot ruleas self-righteous.Evenafter spendingmorethan two decades in jail, heletgooff thepresidencyafter servingforone termonly.Hedidnot discriminatehis peoplein fact, hepursuedequalityandjusticeforall.

ThomasSmith scoredmorethan theotherstudentsdidbecausef thewayheportraystheleadroofhis choice.Heportrayshim as a manwhodidnot fightback his oppressors evenafter theylockedhim awayfor27 years.Hebecamea dedicated leader, andhis peoplefollowedsuit.Mandela getsthedepiction of a leaderwhoinspiredmanypeopleincludinghis enemies.AsSmith putsit, his legacy as a goodleaderwill continuebeingthereferenceto manypeopleevenafter his death.Leadersfrom across theglobeunitedto givehim a heroicsend off after his deathlastyear. In additionto this,Nelson Mandela deservesthecrownof theleaderof theweekdue to his showof humilityevenafter beingcrownedas one of theworld’sbestleaders.
