February19th, I wasableto attendtheone of England’s bestfestivalswhich beingheldat China town,England. Thefestivalwasone of thelargestNew Year’s celebrationsoutside Asia. During thefestival,Chinese traditionalcostumes, fireworks, spectaclesandprocessionsweredisplayed.Itwasa brightThursday afternoon, andeveryone wason thestreetsto experiencethescenebeingcreatedby theAsian dancers.Withall theexcitementthat I had, itwashardforme not to be thereforthegrandopeningof theeventthat wasat 3 pm, thoughmostpeopleexpecteda fireworks display, theAsian leaderpromisedthecrowda fireworks displaybefore theAsia festivalendsat midnight.

Thecoreactorsof theeventswereessentiallyAsians, fortheyunderstoodtheAsian culturemuchbetterthan theEuropeans that livein Europe. Afterall, itwastheir timeto displaytheir cultureandwayof life.Asthefestivalcontinued,I wasableto noticedifferentformsof artin thedancers’dressingsandthetypeof instrumentsthat theyusedformusic.Themusicthatthedancersandmusiciansplayedwashadits rootsin ancientAsia. Thewholesettingof thefestivalmademe feelthatI wasnolongerin Europe butin Asia, thisis becausethestreetswerecoveredin Asian decorationespeciallyChinese decorationthat is oftenhardto notice.

Withthered Chinese lampshangingfrom thenarrowstreetsof China town, itcomesto my attentionthatmostculturestendto havea particularlifestyle that islinkedto their traditions(Borelli,2012). Despite thevariousdecorationsandculturalartifacts like theChinese dragontheChinese cultureprovedthatithadmuchmoreto offerto its visitorsespeciallywhenitcomesto food.

Withregardsto thetypeof foodpreparedalong thestreetsof China town, itcameto my attentionthatmostChinese foodisusuallypreparedthrough boiling andfrying. Thiswasnot a surpriseto me formostChinese werepotmakerswholivedin highaltitudeareasandas a resultusedto preparemostof their foodusingthepotsthat theymade.TheChinese peoplewereableto provethattheyare among thecommunitiesof theworldwhohavebeenableto holdtheir ancientculturaltraditionsup(Adian,&amp Hanoi, 2009). Itisoftenrealizedthatmostculturesare usuallyableto expressthemselves through songsanddancing andwith nodoubttheAsian communitiesthat werepresentin thefestivalshowcased their dancing andsingingstyles.Thoughvaried, themusicstylesdisplayeda commoncomponentin thetypeof instrumentsplayedduring thefestivalthat broughtforwarda jointaspectof theAsian culture.

Inconclusion, itwould be trueto saythateveryculturehas its wayof lifeandfrom thismy initialmindset of peoplewhobelongedto a differentculturefrom theoneI belongedto changed.Thisis essentiallybecauseI cameto understandthatculturaldiversityis whatmakespeopledifferentfrom eachotherandas a resultpeoplefrom differentculturestendto havedifferentvalues. From theunderstandingof thisconcept,I cameto realizethatpeopletendto haveconflictsbetween eachotherbecausetheytendnot to understandtheotherperson’svaluesorbeliefs.
